Training a Hunting Dog is an Amazing Adventure
Welcome to the September, 2025 issue of The Maine Sportsman magazine – the annual celebration of our state’s hunting dogs and their devoted owners. On the cover this month is Oh Henry!, an AKC champion Vizsla owned by Sarah Bodine and Elise Wright of Waldoboro. And this issue’s center spread pictorial features 17 more working dogs, whose owners are members of one of Maine’s three chapters of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association. Marie Wade of the Sebasticook Chapter says it best: “When an owner evolves into an upland hunter,” she explains, “it’s an amazing adventure – and a bonding experience – for both owner and dog.”
